Marion High
School
Rotary Awards
The Rotary Club of Marion started awarding scholastic achievements honors for Marion High School students in 1930. Selection is made by vote of the faculty on a fifty-fifty basis of scholarship and school activities. A Gold key is given to the outstanding boy or girl in each class for first place and a Silver key for second place, plus Silver Pins for the next eight in each class.  In came of a tie  vote, then both point winners receive the same award.  If the same boy or girl receives the Gold key each year in school, a diamond is placed in the key in the final year. Mark Woodley, Club President in 1936, started the Rotary Awards program in 1930. A Rotary Award is eagerly sought after by MHS students.
